Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 3, 2026
Krew ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Krew mobile application and website at trykrew.com. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
By using Krew, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Google account name, email address, and profile photo (when you sign in with Google)
- An anonymous user ID when you use the app as a guest
- Username chosen within the app
- Bio (optional short description you add to your profile)
- Social media links you optionally add (Instagram username, YouTube channel URL)
Gaming & Session Data

- Ratings you give or receive as a host
- Reports you submit about other users or sessions
Community Data

- Messages you send in community group chats
- Your role within a community (member, moderator, creator)

2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your Krew account
- To display your profile, bio, social links, and gaming sessions to other players
- To match you with compatible gaming squads
- To let you create, join, and participate in gaming communities
- To deliver community chat messages to other members in real time
- To let community creators and moderators manage members and enforce community rules
- To send in-app and push notifications (session updates, community activity, reminders)
- To schedule gaming session reminders based on your availability
- To handle reports and maintain a safe community
- To improve the app through anonymized analytics
3. Guest Users
You can use Krew without signing in via a guest account. Guest accounts are anonymous — we assign a temporary ID and a generated username. If you later sign in with Google, your session history is merged into your Google account and the guest data is deleted.
4. Communities
Krew lets you create or join persistent communities — for example, for your college, gaming clan, or friend group.
- Communities are private by default. Only people with the join code, or people directly invited, can join.
- Community creators can choose to make a community public, in which case its name, description, and photo become discoverable to other Krew users.
- Anything you post in a community's group chat is visible to all current members of that community, and may remain visible to new members who join later.
- Community creators can appoint moderators, who — along with the creator — can view the member list, remove or timeout members, and edit community info.
- If you are removed, timed out, or leave a community, your prior chat messages may remain visible to other members unless removed by a moderator.
- We retain a record of moderation actions (e.g. removals, timeouts) to support community safety and to resolve disputes.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Google Firebase — for authentication, database storage, push notifications, and analytics (governed by Google's Privacy Policy)
- Other Krew users — your username, profile photo, bio, social links, gaming preferences, and host rating are visible to other users within the app
- Community members — if you join a community, your username, profile photo, and chat messages are visible to other members and moderators of that community
- Law enforcement — only if required by law
6. Push Notifications
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send you notifications about:
- Players joining or leaving your session
- Session termination by the host
- Upcoming session reminders (5 minutes before your scheduled gaming time)
You can disable push notifications at any time from your device settings.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. Session records may be retained in your history after a session ends. Community chat messages, membership records, and reports are retained for moderation and community safety purposes.
8. Your Rights — Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account from within the Krew app. This will:
- Delete your Firestore user document and all associated data
- Delete your Firebase Authentication account
- Sign you out of all sessions
Some anonymized data (e.g. closed session records, community moderation logs) may be retained for community safety purposes. If you were a community creator, ownership of the community will need to be transferred or the community may be archived.
9. Children's Privacy
Krew is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use Firebase's secure infrastructure to store and process your data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
11. Third-Party Services
Krew uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Krew after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
13. Grievance Officer (India — DPDP Act, 2023)
In accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made thereunder, we have designated a Grievance Officer to address your concerns regarding the processing of your personal data.
If you have a grievance regarding how your personal data is processed, you may write to the Grievance Officer at the email above. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 90 days of receipt, in line with applicable timelines under the DPDP Rules. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to approach the Data Protection Board of India.
